Polycom VC2
Polycom, Inc. has announced Polycom VC2, a comprehensive vision for next-generation visual communication that migrates customers to highly integrated, HD-quality and simple-to-use visual communication solutions. The latest developments will be demonstrated at the InfoComm,Conference & Expo in Las Vegas, at Booth no. N.6019 June 18-20, 2008. Live demonstrations of 1080p capabilities will also be given; these are scheduled for delivery later in 2008.
Polycom VC2 addresses the need for visual communication solutions that provide the highest quality video, audio and content experiences; that are simple and intuitive to use and easily integrated within existing applications and communication tools; that are highly scalable; that allow people to connect regardless of their device or network type; and that can be deployed and managed easily and effectively within an organisation’s converged IP network and communications environment.
“The global business environment will dramatically evolve over the next five to 10 years. Polycom believes visual communication will be one of the most important and impactful tools for business success during this time,” said Joe Sigrist, senior vice president and general manager of visual communications solutions at Polycom.
“Visual communication capabilities like telepresence, real-time multimedia content sharing, on-demand video content, mobile video and video-enabled unified communications have the potential to change what is possible in business and radically alter how, where and when we work, and the way we communicate and collaborate with co-workers, partners and customers. Polycom is uniquely positioned to deliver these solutions under the Polycom VC2 vision.”
At Infocomm, Polycom is expanding its Telepresence portfolio and conference attendees will be able to experience a new Polycom Telepresence solution as part of the HD Conferencing & Telepresence Showcase (InfoComm Booth no. C.2976). Polycom offers one of the industry’s broadest portfolio of Telepresence solutions, which are fully interoperable and meet different customer application, space and budget requirements.
The Polycom RealPresence™ Experience (RPX™) series supports from four to 28 people on camera in each location, allowing for applications beyond meetings, such as the interactive classrooms being used today by Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business as part of a cross-continental MBA program, and by Georgetown University as a Global Classroom connecting students in Wash D.C and its Doha, Qatar branch campus.
The Polycom Telepresence Experience™ (TPX™) series are comprehensive solutions designed to give small groups the ability to collaborate as if they were in the same room.
Polycom also offers a complete line of flexible telepresence solutions under its HDX line, which includes options for small, medium and large conference rooms, integrated room environments and the HDX 4000™ personal telepresence systems for executive desktops and offices.
All Polycom telepresence solutions are based on industry-leading, standards-based technology and interoperate at the highest possible quality levels with the large installed base of more than 1.5 million standards-based video conferencing systems in use today (including HD systems).
Infocomm attendees will have access to live demonstrations of 1080p capabilities scheduled for delivery later in 2008. Polycom plans to extend its telepresence portfolio to support 1080p resolution to meet unique customer applications requiring the highest clarity of video and content, such as medical applications for remote diagnosis, manufacturing applications for remote quality assurance, technical support applications for remote troubleshooting and evaluation, and more.
Conference attendees will also experience live demonstrations of Polycom’s highly-scalable, presence-aware desktop visual communication that delivers incredible voice and video previously unavailable in a desktop video application.
